The waterproofs are where the brand's fabric spending shows most. The 3L UL rain jacket is the light end — three-layer construction, packable, meant to be carried in case rather than worn all day. The 2.5L Hiker is the slightly heavier, more everyday version, and the printed rain jacket adds a graphic without changing what it does. Alongside them sit the water repellent light jacket, which sheds a shower rather than a downpour, and the C/PE twill field jacket, which is outdoor construction in a cotton blend and reads as clothing rather than kit. Three-layer construction bonds the face fabric, membrane and lining together, which makes a more durable and more comfortable jacket. Two-and-a-half layer replaces the lining with a printed coating, which saves weight and cost but feels less pleasant against skin. The UL is the one to pack and forget; the Hiker is the one to wear.
A deep, shaggy pile fleece, considerably thicker than standard microfleece. It traps a lot of air for its weight, which makes it very warm, but the surface is open so wind cuts through it — it works as a mid-layer under a shell or as an outer piece in cold dry weather.
