And Wander Clothing FAQs
Three-layer construction bonds the face fabric, membrane and lining together, which makes a more durable and more comfortable jacket. Two-and-a-half layer replaces the lining with a printed coating, which saves weight and cost but feels less pleasant against skin. The UL is the one to pack and forget; the Hiker is the one to wear.
A deep, shaggy pile fleece, considerably thicker than standard microfleece. It traps a lot of air for its weight, which makes it very warm, but the surface is open so wind cuts through it — it works as a mid-layer under a shell or as an outer piece in cold dry weather.
An active insulation fabric, designed to be worn while moving rather than while stationary. It insulates but also lets moisture and heat escape quickly, so it does not become clammy on a climb the way a conventional fleece can. The trade-off is that it is fragile and usually worn under something.
Both Yards Store shops carry the brand: 13 Old Bank Street in Manchester and 86 Pinstone Street in Sheffield. Given the prices and the cut, this is a range worth trying on. Stock differs between the two, so ring ahead for a specific piece or size.
