Founded in Red Wing, Minnesota, Charles Beckman a shoe merchant created the brand Red Wing. The first shoe that Red Wing created was a work boot that climbed to calf height. Red Wing’s original workforce was cutting heavy-weight leather by hand in 1908. Red Wing got a name for itself and evolved to create specialized boots for specialized jobs – The Oil King Boots for oil field workers. Their first women’s boots, the Gloria, were released in 1926, while six years on they introduced the military-Esque Billy Boot. In modern-day, Red Wing has evolved into a modern-day fashion brand with the boots worn just as much for style as practicality.
