Carhartt Work In Progress WIP began in 1889 when Hamilton Carhartt started to produce work-wear clothing for the industries in and around Michigan, and eventually further afield. Hamilton was a businessman keen to make a product that stood out from the rest. Carhartt went on to develop a heavy-duty duck canvas, now famous in their Hamilton-Brown colourway. The aim of the brand is to produce the best work-wear that lasts. Carhartt’s work-wear heritage has evolved into producing a vast array of products that ensure functionality and practicality while also looking good.
Since the 1980’s Carhartt WIP been as popular with hip-hop stars as it is has been with oil rig workers and continues to be the street-wear brand of choice for a variety of different scenes and subcultures.
