Cotton, wool or hemp

The choice here is less about style than fabric. Cotton logo tees are the everyday option and where most people start — plain jersey with the arctic fox somewhere on it. Abisko Wool is merino, which sounds counterintuitive for summer until you've worn one: it regulates temperature, resists odour and can go several days between washes, which is why walkers buy it. The hemp blends are the third route, heavier and more textured than cotton, and they soften considerably with washing rather than wearing thin.

The logo tees

Fjällräven has been putting the arctic fox on t-shirts since 1960 and the graphics change less than you'd expect. The 1960 Logo is the small chest mark, the Fox is the larger front print, and Walk With Nature and Swedish Forest carry the illustrated graphics. The Relaxed is the fuller cut and the Heavy Classic the thicker jersey. Colours rotate through the season but the shapes stay put.

Merino for warm weather

Abisko Wool comes in short sleeve, long sleeve and a hooded version. It's the range Fjällräven builds for trekking, and the merino does the work — cooler than cotton in heat, warmer when it turns, and it doesn't hold smell the way synthetic does. Long sleeve is worth considering even in summer if you're out in the sun for hours.

Merino regulates temperature better than cotton — cooler in heat, warmer when it drops — and it resists odour, so an Abisko Wool tee can be worn for several days between washes. That matters more on a walking trip than it does at home, which is what the range was built for.
Both are cotton. The 1960 Logo carries a small chest mark and reads plainer. The Fox has the larger arctic fox print across the front. Same fit, different amount of graphic.
Different rather than better. Hemp blends are heavier and more textured than plain jersey, and they soften with washing instead of thinning. They hold their shape longer, but they're a substantial t-shirt rather than a light one.

Cool wash at 30°C on a wool or delicate cycle, with wool detergent rather than fabric softener. Dry flat rather than tumbling. Merino resists odour well, so airing between wears usually does the job.
