Corridor was founded in 2013 by Dan Snyder, who left a career in federal law enforcement in Washington, taught himself to sew, and started the label from a sixth-floor walk-up in New York's East Village. The name comes from the Northeast Corridor, the stretch between Washington, Boston and New York that Snyder had spent his life moving along.

Corridor shirts and the Three Panel Fit

Shirting came first and still defines the brand. The house pattern, the Three Panel Fit, is rooted in a 1950s cut and gives Corridor shirts their characteristic shape: roomy through the body without being shapeless, and comfortable worn open or buttoned. Production runs through New York's Garment District alongside family-run workshops abroad, with fabrics developed specifically for each season rather than bought off the shelf.

What separates the shirts from one another is texture more than colour. Floral eyelet is a knitted openwork that breathes in a way a woven shirt does not. Seersucker puckers deliberately so the cloth stands off the skin. Pigment dyeing is applied after the garment is made, which is why those pieces fade unevenly and softly rather than going flat.

Corridor jeans, polos, tees and caps

Away from the shirts, the carpenter jeans are the piece that most often surprises people — a wide, workwear-derived cut in indigo and navy that sits at the opposite end of the range from the polos. The pique polos and tees are the plainer end, and the New York cap series is where the label's sense of place shows most directly.
