Carhartt WIP Trousers FAQs
Both are Carhartt WIP's workwear cuts. The Double Knee has a second canvas panel across each knee, originally to take kneeling wear on site, which makes it heavier and stiffer at first. The Single Knee has one layer and breaks in faster. The Double Knee is the more recognisable of the two.
They describe how the trouser was finished. Rinsed has been washed once so it holds its size. Stone washed has had a longer treatment and starts softer with more fade. Garment dyed means the trouser was made up first and dyed afterwards, which gives a slightly uneven colour. Rigid is untreated and shrinks a little on the first wash.
Generously through the seat and thigh compared with most denim. The workwear patterns — Single Knee, Double Knee, Regular Cargo — are the roomiest. The Abbott and Nolan are the cleanest straight legs. The Flint sits relaxed, and the Aaron and Marlow are wide through the thigh with a taper to the ankle.
