Man Sat on Car Wearing a Carhartt WIP Dryden Jacket

Carhartt WIP: Greater than the Sum of its Parts

Carhartt is famous for its reliable and rugged wares. In fact, Carhartt – especially in America – has become a bit of a meme and a symbol for the integration of workwear into fashion territory.

The brand started in 1889 as a high-quality workwear brand, and before the widespread commercialisation of it, was associated with manual labour jobs. What goes over a lot of heads is that the WIP range from Carhartt was designed to distance the brand from workwear, and allowed Carhartt the freedom to focus on more street elements.

That doesn’t suggest that WIP is any less reliable. The Dryden Jacket, for example, is made of yarn dyed cotton seersucker and then garment dyed to add layers of texture and resistance into the material. The jacket also featured four pockets which are cleverly disguised in the patterned poplin fabric. It's everything that’s good about Carhartt.
