Shirts and t-shirts lead it

Roughly half the sale is shirting and jersey. On the shirt side the tartans are the draw — the Lomond in Northshore and the Lanark in Riverstone — alongside checks like the Shieldton and Drumhill, and plainer tailored shirts in the Kanehill and Deerpark. T-shirts split between the plain logo tees and the graphic ones, with the Haydock and Leazes among the relaxed cuts. Polos are mostly the lightweight Ferrybridge and the tailored Fielding.

Knitwear, fleece and outerwear

Half-zips are the biggest part of the knitwear — the Ramsden, Horseford and Tisbury — with merino crews from the Grangetown and Loyton. Fleeces run from the Country jacket and gilet through to the lighter Essentials and Rydal. Jackets are the smaller group but the more interesting one: the Editor and Sapper in wax, the Berwick and Kirkhill for rain, the Kirkbridge wool coat, and the Beaconsfield in tweed check.

What a Barbour sale actually is

Nothing here was made for it. These are pieces from earlier seasons in the same fabrics and cuts as the full-price range — a Lanark shirt in a sale tartan is the same shirt as the current one. What changes each season is the pattern and the colour, so a reduced tartan generally won't come back. That makes this the last chance on a particular check rather than a discount on something ongoing. Sizes clear from the middle outwards, so if you take a medium or large it's worth looking early rather than waiting for a further markdown.
