TSPTR, or Truth Symmetry, Pleasure, Taste, Recognition if you’re into your acronyms is your counter-cultural one stop shop that you can buy from over our counter. Based off the five design principles outlined by Louis Sullivan, the man who thought why don’t we add more floors and create a skyscraper, the brand looks to and follows in his form over function footsteps.
Channelling the history of American sub-cultures through avenues such as politics, music, pop-culture and war, their messages of yesterday take new life when viewed through the scope of modern times. This seemingly endless supply of thought and fodder is what constantly feeds the machine that is TSPTR, churning out garments with both great design and a story to match.
In true counter-cultural fashion, the brand thought it best to go the whole nine yards by ethically sourcing their materials from all over the globe. If you’re going to stick it to the man, you may as well do it properly, mightn’t you?
To us, this latest drop had us all uncannily remembering Mario Savio’s legendary speech at the infamous Sproul Hall Sit-In, where he expounded the following words:
“There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part; you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!”
Now if that doesn’t make you want to wear a t-shirt with LSD in bold lettered type, then we don’t know what will.
