Trainers, sneakers, kicks, runners – whatever they may or may not be called, they’re probably the greatest invention ever. Primarily designed for sports and physical exercise, the trainer became a casual item for everyday use due to their supreme comfort and affordability. From tennis courts to military use, trainers have been used for everything since their inception. Sneaker culture soon took over the world with hip hop artists and sports stars signing multi-million-pound deals with all the major players.
Whether it’s a pair of pumps in the form of a Slovakian-made Novesta, some mega technical trail runners from the Swiss shoe-engineers at On Running or some classic runner-type trotters from New Balance, there’s a vast array of trainers to fit any needs. There are subtle monochrome ones, crazy bright lime-coloured ones, sock-like ones, gum-soled ones… you get the idea.
We thought we’d do a small edit of some of our favourite recently new trainers that’ll certainly tickle your fancy.

Finnish brand Karhu may have invented the three-stripe design that it later sold to Adidas, but they’re known for their expertly crafted premium trainers filled with clever design, interesting colour palettes and contemporary silhouettes. The Aria 95 is a mainstay of the brand that features a carbon fibre fulcrum, 3M detailing and a Lycra monosock for max-comfort. We also think the seasonal Vetiver / Tea Rose colourway is pretty darn special too.
